I would like to sign up to Alternativa mobile. How do I join?

You can join in two ways...
  1. Buy a Alternativa mobile SIM card. You can get one at Alternativa mobile sales points, by phone or via e-mail.
  2. You keep your current number and change to Alternativa mobile. It's a hassle losing your number because you want to change mobile provider. So with Alternativa you can bring your current number with you at no additional cost. And it makes no difference whether you are on contract or pay-as-you-go. Because we don't care where you have come from, we care about you.
We will need the same details from you regardless of the way you choose to join us (legally required):
  1. Name and surnames.
  2. Nationality.
  3. Identification document type.
  4. Number of this document.
  5. Address.
  6. And remember: you can only join Alternativa mobile if you are over 18 years of age.
If you decide to bring your number, we will also need the following details:
  1. Your current telephone number.
  2. The company you are changing from.
  3. Whether you use pay-as-you-go or a contract.
  4. A number that is written on your SIM card, so have it handy when you are changing over.
If I already have a mobile, can I join Alternativa mobile?

Yes, of course you can. Alternativa mobile can be used on any telephone, once it is unblocked. An unblocked phone is one that is not blocked by any operator.

Operators are obliged to unblock your mobile after 12 months. If 12 months have passed, contact them and they will unblock your mobile free of charge. Many mobiles are unblocked by entering an unblocking code provided by the operator. To get this, you need to give your phone’s IMEI which you can obtain by pressing *#06# on your phone.

You can also unblock your phone in specialized phone centres or in pay phone centres.
 
And if I don't have a mobile phone or I want a new one?

Not a problem, because at Alternativa mobile we offer you a wide range of telephones at prices which we are sure that you'll be pleased with.

How can I find out my credit balance?

We offer you 3 ways of finding out your credit balance:
  1. On the Hits website in the space tab. Once you have registered, you can consult your balance free of charge, as often as you like.
  2. Call the credit balance check service. Just dial 1200. Remember that you can check free of charge 5 times a day. After that, you will be charged 15 cents per check.
  3. Call the Personalize your Line service. Just dial 1216. Remember that you can call free of charge 5 times a day. After that, you will be charged 15 cents per check.
How have I used up my credit?

With Hits mobile, you can find out what you have spent your credit on. And you can find out right now. Register at Hits space and access your personal space. There you can see what you have spent your credit on: your calls, your SMS, your MMS, call duration, date...
 
Where can I top up my Hits mobile?

To ensure that you are never stuck without credit and that you can always contact your friends and family, Alternativa mobile lets you top up in lots of ways:
  1. On the Hits website.
  2. Call free of charge on 1214.
  3. In your local pay phone centre and other sales points (kiosks, petrol stations, ...).
  4. Through La Caixa, Bancaja, Caixa Catalunya, Barclays, Bankoa, Caixa Penedés and Banco Sabadell cash machines, Telecor outlets and in Post Offices.
How do I know that the top-up has been carried out correctly?

When you top up, you will receive an SMS with the details of your new balance and its validity.

You can also check it through any of the credit balance check methods.

Is there a minimum amount I have to spend every month?

No! With Alternativa mobile you decide when and how much you want to spend. You pay, so you decide.
 
Does my credit have an expiry date?

You can use your credit whenever you want. However, if 3 months (90 days) pass without you making a top-up, your credit will be frozen and you will only be able to receive calls and messages or make calls to the Customer Care Service (1212) or to your voicemail on 177 for a further 2 months (60 days).

But don't worry, because you can recover your credit during these 2 months. How? All you need to do is to top up again and your credit will be available once more. You will only lose your connection if you make no top-ups during 6 months (180 days).

We want to be as clear as we can about how ILEVoiceLine works, how you use it, and what you can expect to pay. So here are some of the questions we get asked most frequently.

ILEVoiceLine is a low-cost internet phone company. We offer unlimited calls within Spain Europe and around the world, all for a set monthly fee. Call plans start at just €3.00 a month.

Instead of using a physical landline such as Telefonica, ILEVoiceLine works by using your existing broadband connection. That's why it's so much cheaper.But you use ILEVoiceLine just like you use the phone service you've got now. Once you're set up, you carry on making and receiving calls just like you did before. Just pick up the phone, no headsets required, wait for the dialing tone, and then type in the number. The only difference you'll see will be in your bills, which will be much lower.

Can I use my computer while I'm on the phone?

Yes. You can talk on the phone and surf the Internet at the same time.(Subject to available bandwidth)

How Do I get a telephone number?

As soon as you sign up to ILEVoiceLine, we will email you or telephone through your new phone number. You can start using it as soon as your adapter arrives.

So what plugs into what - and where?

Instead of plugging your phone into a telephone socket on the wall, you connect using the ILEVoiceLine adapter, which is the connected to router or modem

Does my computer need to be on?

No. You just need to have broadband. ILEVoiceLine isn't PC-dependant.

Do the people I call need their computer switched on?

No. You can use ILEVoiceLine to call any landline or mobile, anywhere in the world. It's not PC-to-PC. It's just the same as a traditional phone service, only cheaper.

What if my router or modem isn't where I want the phone?

Your base telephone handset needs to be near your modem or router. If your computer is, say, in the lounge and you want a phone in the bedroom, you can get a twin phone handset. Connect handset 1 (the main base) into the ILEVoiceline router near your computer. Then plug handset 2 in a power socket wherever you want

Will I need to change my broadband provider?

No. ILEVoiceLine works over any broadband connection, whether cable or ADSL

Does ILEVoiceLine sell broadband services?

Yes. But only in the area of Chiclana de la Frontera and some surrounding areas. You will need a Broadband connection to work.

Do the people I call need to have broadband?

No. You can use ILEVoiceLine to call any landline or mobile, anywhere in the world. It doesn't matter if they haven't got broadband. It's just the same as a traditional phone service, only cheaper.

What if my broadband is down?

If you're broadband service goes down, you won't be able to make or receive calls using your ILEVoiceLine phone line - including emergency calls. If this happens, contact your broadband service provider to resolve the problem.

What about 112 calls?

When you use the Service in Spain you will not be able to call emergency services. A line from another communications provider e.g. mobile will be required to call emergency services.

Do I need a headset to talk?

No. Just a normal digital phone handset which you're likely to be using already.

What are ILEVoiceLine-to-ILEVoiceLine calls?

You can call any other ILEVoiceLine user anywhere in the world for free, no matter what package either of you are on. Some families or businesses get two ILEVoiceLine adapters: one stays at home, the other that 'travels'!

What's this about the dialing code?

Because ILEVoiceLine isn't tied to physical phone lines, you can choose a dialing code from the areas available, regardless of where you actually live or plan to use the service.

Can I take my ILEVoiceLine with me?

Yes! As long as there's broadband, you can use your ILEVoiceLine. Just take your ILEVoiceLine adapter (and handset if necessary) with you, plug your phone and adapter into the modem / router at the other end. Calls to landlines in the countries listed in your package will still be inclusive and unlimited for example with Spain unlimited, you can still make unlimited calls to Spanish landlines, even if you're in America or India!

Can I call people who use other VoIP services?

Yes. You can dial any other telephone number, whether it's VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), an internet phone or a traditional phone service.

What about calls to mobiles or premium numbers like 803/806/901?

You do have to pay for calls to these types of numbers. Our rates are very competitive. Please contact us for details.

Which calls are free?

You will have to pay for calls made to countries not included in your chosen call plan. These charges are extremely good value, though. Please contact us for details.

Which calls are free?

Calls to countries within your chosen calling plan are free and unlimited. Calls to other ILEVoiceLine users are also free, no matter where in the world they are.

What about voicemail, caller ID, ring-back, call-waiting, etc?

These, along with many other call features are all included in your call plan package at no extra cost.

What's the call quality like?

Put it like this: people will have no idea you're making a call using your broadband connection.

Where are your hidden charges?

There aren't any. You will need an ILEVoiceLine InnoMedia adapter, which may be free (it depends on your existing broadband set-up and call plan).You pay no line-activation fee or delivery charge. The only thing you pay for is your monthly call plan fee, plus any calls made to numbers outside of your call package. There's nothing else.
